Roger has lived in Blewbury since 2013 and has been a governor since 2014. He is an Emeritus Professor of Education at Nottingham University and has spent his whole career working in educational research, evaluation, and teacher education. He is currently working as an Educational Consultant for the DfE in England and for the Welsh Assembly Government, for whom he is undertaking work on the introduction of a radically different system of personalised adaptive on-demand national assessments for Year 2-9 learners.

During 2020/21 Roger has been commissioned to undertake a national research study into the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic on pupil learning, and the implications for national assessments and examinations in England.
