Following the resignation of Astrid Fox-Orband as a parent governor we are seeking nominations for a new parent governor. Parent governors are not there to represent parents but are representative of parents. Their term of office is, as for all governors, four years. Parent governors do not have to have any particular skills but must commit to training, be willing to prepare for meetings by reading papers in advance and be able to attend meetings.
All governors are appointed to fulfil three core functions
- To set the vision of the school
- To hold the leadership to account and ensure that performance management is carried out correctly
- To ensure that the finances of the school are spent wisely for the benefit of the children
The governors are part of the leadership and the management of the school and are judged as such by OFSTED. Being a part of the team is exciting, challenging and at times demanding but it is also very satisfying to know that the work you are doing has a direct impact on the quality of education that the children are receiving.
If you are interested in becoming a parent governor, please contact aparham@blewbury.oxon.sch.uk
(chair of governors) who will answer any questions you may have.
We would like to take this opportunity in thanking Astrid for all the hard work she has done during the last four years especially using her experience in special needs education. It is appreciated and she has impacted positively on the many improvements that have been made for children at Blewbury.
