The Parents and Teachers Association are very happy to welcome you to Blewbury Primary School.

We are an inclusive group of parents, guardians and teaching staff whose main aim is to raise vital extra funds for the benefit of all the children. By providing social elements throughout the year we can encourage a greater sense of community for the children and school. All parents and guardians are automatically a member of the PTA.

Usually, in September, you would receive a letter inviting you to come to the PTA Annual General Meeting. (However this year we are holding our meetings virtually or socially distanced. More information to follow.)

We are always looking for enthusiastic new members to join our team in any capacity you’re able to offer. Most of our committee members work full or part-time and fit the PTA in. This year, especially, will be vitally important for new members to get involved as we have quite a few children moving up to secondary school so will have roles to fill. We also have friends of the PTA who are not committee members but provide other support. We usually have just one meeting per term.

The PTA can only run with its committee members and friends to make the events happen. We hold regular fundraising events for the children including disco nights, cinema nights and cake sales. We also have our Christmas Fair, summer fair, Easter event, Colour Run and extra events such as book sales and thrift stalls. Due to these strange times, we will be looking at other ways of raising funds until we can safely hold events again. All ideas welcomed.

All the money we raise goes back to the children. On average we raise about £6000 a year in profit. From this money, there are regular yearly contributions to each class, computer subscriptions, printer cartridges and coaches for the Christmas Pantomime trips. We have also contributed to items such as the wonderful Octagonal building, new computer software, football kits, educational workshops and school trips. This year we finished our big fundraiser and installed a new climbing frame.

PTA members will be on hand at the start of term to welcome you.

Being on the PTA is a great way of getting involved with the school and being part of the children’s school life and meeting other parents and guardians. It is a friendly committee and we would love to welcome you.

We look forward to meeting you!

Kind regards,

Blewbury School PTA Committee Members

PTA Fundraising

Every year the PTA fills a funding gap of £6000 for Blewbury School. We also have one-off large projects we fund through all your donations at events. For example this year we finished a 2-year project and delivered the new climbing frame. The year before we purchased Chromebooks for the children. Before that is was the Biodome.

This money is hugely important to the school. Now, unfortunately, as we haven’t been able to hold any Spring and Summer events this year we predict to have missed out on approximately £2500 of vital fundraising money. Our ColourFest (run/festival) would have been our big summer event where we would have raised our most money for the year.

So we’ve set up a fundraising site to try and bridge the gap. We ask that you share and spread the word to anyone who may have come along and bought a hot dog, or a raffle ticket. Perhaps they’d be willing to donate what they might have spent. Please click on the link and donate what you can, it all helps. Thank you.

We also appreciate these are difficult times for a lot of us so below is an alternative and a link to an online tool which raises money for the school whilst you do your shopping. It costs you no extra. Please take a look and share it with all your family.
